This course introduces civil engineering designers to using InRoads software for road projects. This training walks students through the project design cycle; including setting up a project, existing ground data, geometry, template creation, earthwork design, superelevation, volume design, and reporting.

  • navigate and use the InRoads Interface
  • create a CAD files to be used for InRoads graphics using Project Defaults
  • display surface contours, features and triangles
  • create horizontal geometry alignments from graphics
  • create and edit horizontal alignments using PIs and curve definitions
  • create and edit horizontal alignments using element geometry
  • create profiles and cross sections 
  • create and edit vertical PI’s and define alignments
  • create and edit vertical element based alignments
  • define templates and end conditions
  • define template transitions
  • apply template point controls
  • define superelevation
  • create a corridor with the Roadway Designer
  • make design changes 
  • create and update cross sections
  • annotate cross sections
  • generate end-area volumes and volumes reports
  • generate an XML report and fixed format reports
